I am an associate professor in the Departments of Zoological Science and Center for Human Evolutionary Studies, College of Natural Sciences at Addis Ababa University. My research interests include primate behavior and anatomy, mammalian behavior, evolutionary theory, and paleoanthropology. In 1995 I translated Charles Darwin’s On the Origin of Species into Amharic. I have ongoing projects on the modern primates of the western lowlands and southwestern forest of Ethiopia.
For the Middle Stone Age program I am especially interested in supervising students who want to study the behaviors of modern primates in order to better understand how the MSA people interacted with these species and when and how they hunted them.
